Addition Within 10 000

This week we worked on Addition within 10 000 with regrouping in ones, tens and hundreds. The pupils worked on the number discs to understand the concept of regrouping in addition.

We learned that we can regroup 10 ones to 1 ten, 10 tens to 1 hundred and 10 hundreds to one thousand.

Place Value

We started on our first unit on Numbers to 10 000. We learned about Place Value in our lessons. The pupils worked with number discs to represent numbers on the Place Value Chart.

                                       

                                       

                                                   

 

Hello 3A

Hello pupils of 3A,

I am excited to be teaching you Mathematics and I look forward to learn together with you. My wish is that all of you work hard and put in your best effort in your work.

A right attitude towards Mathematics is of utmost importance. When a problem seems difficult, do persevere on to seek the solution and may you not give up easily.

As our school song goes .... diligence and perseverance will lead us all the way.

Generating Ideas for Composition Planning and Writing

What comes to your mind when you think of 'stories'? We penned our thoughts and shared them through an activity. This is to generate ideas about what makes a good story as a start of our composition writing. Some of them came up with very interesting thoughts about stories while others shared their favourite story titles.

Next, we moved on to learn about the structure of a narrative:

1. Orientation (characters and setting)

2. Complication

3. Resolution

4. Coda/Ending

The next day, we explored ideas on 'Accidents' which we will need for our composition writing on that topic. I must say that I'm very impressed with the diversity of ideas generated by all of you!

We then moved on to plan our writing. Working in groups, we planned our story based on the structure of a narrative. 

Soon, we will be ready to write our composition in groups! 

STEP

This week, we had our first workout during STEP period. We had a whale of a time!
